this past weekend we went up to rockbridge for fall weekend. it was so sweet. i was definitely hoping for big things to happen but the Lord definitely blew all of my expectations away. i was in a cabin called turkey hill (cool sidenote-i've stayed in turkey hill once all three years of high school). my cabin was filled with a few juniors, a senior, and mostly sophomores. i knew the names of everyone in the cabin, however, for the most part i didn't know anything else. Chelsea was our leader-she rocked it. she did so so awesome in leading us for the weekend. And as normal fall weekend goes: we arrived late friday night, had club even later friday night then a dodgeball black light thing in the gym, saturday we had breakfast, club, lunch, anual boys v girls football game, free time, dinner and club again, 20 mins, some real talk/free time, cabin time, bed, sunday we had brunch, area meetings and club again and then we left. Griff was our speaker (i love him, he was the speaker for wyldlife week too-he is hilarious and such a gifted speaker). by far my favorite part of the weekend was cabin time on saturday night/getting to talk with chey after the 20 mins(which was just such a sweet time to get real and deep. talking about who christ is, what he did for us and just the tough stuff in life that we alone can't handle). cabin time was filled with lots and lots of crying. probably the most i have cried in years. but they were good tears, tears becuase of listening to others stories, tears becuase of what Jesus did on the cross for me, tears becuase it always hits me like it's the first time i've heard it, tears because girls were sharing their hearts even though they hardly knew me, and tears because some of these girls went from death to life.
even though we had not known each other for long, we were able to share our hearts, thoughts, and questions. we were vulnerable but comfortable. the Lord blessed our short amount of time in that cabin. there's a celebration going on in heaven for the girls that let Christ in their hearts this weekend. I'm so excited for what the lord has in store for them. and it's such a huge blessing to be a part of it. although it was cold, i had to sleep in a twin bed with another girl, and i had never seen my eyes so swollen from tiredness and crying, i wouldn't have asked for it any other way. it was just the best.
