"God moments"

ya know those times were you just feel the Lord? like he's right there with you. so evident, so real. well i had one of those today. i had a doctors appointment for this bump on my finger (not to worry it's only a cyst) but as lynn and i were leaving we saw a man with his head bent over the trash can. Our intial thought was that he was looking for food in the trast can; however, as we were walking down the steps we realized he was resting his head on the top of the trash can and looking very upset. Lynn approached the man and said, "sir are you okay?" the man looked up, paused and said "i just lost my wife to cancer today" his face was broken. he looked worn out and emotionally spent (who could blame him). we immediately comforted him. although he was a little surprised they we had come up to him, you could tell how much he needed someone to just listen to him and talk about what was going on. He then told us the whole story-when his wife first became sick with lung cancer, the hospital visits, his wife trying to live at home but not succeeding and always ending up at the hospital, how they both became chirsitans together, his countless nights sleeping in the cot next to her in the hospital, and her final breaths. the story was heart wrenching, it brought tears for both lynn and i. We talked about how the Lord will be with him through the whole thing and how his wife is now up there with God. He was distraught, stressed, upset, and heartbroken but the Lord will/is getting him through this tough time.

Lynn says she isn't sure why she decided to go up and talk to that man. but while talking with him, i could just feel the Lord with us. in our conversation. Dave is a strong man, and he's going through a lot. if you could pray for him that would be so so great. he does know one thing for sure that keeps him going and that's that Cheryl-his wife-is with the Lord now.

it's also cool how the Lord works. see earlier in the day, before the doctors appointment, lynn and i had gotten in a big agruement. i had been very rude to her and we were both upset with each other. but after listening to Dave's story, we left sobbing. and it really gave us a new perspective. we both had realized how silly arguing over what we were arguing about was. i also realized how much i had been taking my relationships with my family for granted. like i said it's so cool how the Lord works.

One of the most significant things he said was "strangers, you all are strangers and you care so much." The lord knew that that man needed someone to talk to and he used us to listen. so grateful for the opportunity.

praying for dave, and thanking him for sharing his story with us. don't take things for granted, even the small things.
