tonight i'm giving my second talk at wyldlife. (this semester whoever is speaking will give 2 talks in a row) i thought that since i had gotten my 1st talk out of the way that the others would be less stressful, easier to plan. but for me this one was actually harder.
i was so sure of what i wanted to talk about last week, i knew that i wanted to really run with letting them know how loved they are and this week it was a lot harder for me to decide. i definitely want to incorporate love into all of my talks because i think that once we get even a glimpse of His love for us it would change how we live our lives. With giving a wyldlife talk we have a pretty general topic to talk on-basically just the person of christ. which i could definitely go a lot of ways with-his love, his power, his miracles, who we are in Him, a parable that represents Him, how we belong with/in Him-any of those but for some reason i had a really hard time picking. I had narrowed it down to 3 stories-calming the storm, jesus/peter walking on water, and the bleeding woman. each of them are really different. however i went over to the fetzers (love their fam) and i finally decided on the story of Jesus calming the storm. I love that this stroy not only shows the power of christ but also the love for us.While planning my talk, i myself thought of a few things that i had never really taken much time to think about. One of my main points of my talk tonight is that Jesus not only has the power to calm our storms but he also desires to rescue us from them. he loves us that much.
which got me thinking...
what if Jesus only had 1 of those 2 qualities? Jesus could have the power to help us through rough waters but if he did not have the desire to rescue us from them it would be nothing to us. and if He loved us (which is definitely indescribable and so so important dont get me wrong) but i know for me i would definitely have more trouble going to the Lord, sharing my heart, telling him my problems when i know there is nothing he can really do about it. THANKFULLY neither of these are the case. which is so so sweet. the fact that the Lord is more powerful than i could ever understand (Jesus said to the wind and waves "Quiet, be still" and they listened, he conquered death, kicked satan's butt nbd) and that he loves us deeply. he wants to calm our storms. he has desire to rescue us from those rough waters is so reassuring. Why would we not want to put our life in His hands?
"through the fire and storm, Lord my heart is Yours, i will trust with hands held high
when the waters rise, Lord Your love is alive, i will trust with hands held high"
^^i'm listening to this song by annie lawrence right now-it's called find rest. i've probably listened to it about 8 times now in just this one class. and i really love it a lot.
have a good wednesday :)
and prayers would be great for our wyldlife club tonight!
