to start off, we got to get out of school 2 days early from winter break and head to the Florida Keys. It was so so nice. the warm weather was so great and i even got a little tanner. everyone came except matt and christen. although the trip was short it was a nice break. school has been killing me (i know i'm only in high school-but junior year is the toughest right?) and to be able to litterally not have to worry about a thing was so wonderful. plus we dont get a lot of time to spend with the college girls so it was great getting to spend time with them.
we got to go fishing...brian's fav part.
and snorkeling too, which was not kelly and I's favorite part. we probably stayed out in the water for a good 15 mins while the rest stayed out for about 45 mins. (after the guy told us there were a lot of jelly fish, we were outta there!)
love these girls :) i'm so blessed to have such beautiful sisters. inside and out.
such an awesome way to start of the break.
kate and i decided to throw a dinner party for all of our friends since everyone is back from college for break and we dont all get to hang out very often. our problem was that the only day we could have the party was on friday (it was thursday when we planned this...) but we went for it and sent out a mass text. and sure enough people showed up. it was so so much fun. i love the group of friends we have. they are so genuine and real. we played dance central, head bands, ping pong, ate, took pictures, and got to catch up with each other. as kate would say it was a good time for friends, food and fun. hahah
some that were there...
christmas came and went so fast this year. but i am soo very grateful for it all. i love this season, however, it is so easy to get caught up in the parties and gifts that sometimes we forget the real meaning behind christmas. and being honest, a few times this break i have caught myself thinking more about the gifts i would be recieving instead of the people i would be spending time with.
this christmas was a little different-i went over to my moms house-who i have only seen probably 1 time since last christmas-i kow crazy right? but the usual thought is that kids whose parents are divorced are lucky-they get 2 christmas....not the case for this girl. christmas with my mom was really hard for me. my mom doesn't really think before she says things and they can come out rude or mean. we really don't see eye to eye at all. so a lot of the time i would have to recompose myself. and pray. for patience. for understanding. looking back on it though was cool that even during times were i was really frustrated, i could rely on the Lord to keep calm, to give me peace. and He did. after christmas at my moms we got to visit my dad who had to work overnight in the hospital. we ate chinese with him in the cafeteria as our christmas eve dinner-it was the best.
the day after christmas we headed to florence...florence, SC that is not Florence, Italy. we only stayed the night there, but we got to visit grandparents and cousins that we don't get to see too often. it was great. one of our cousins in particular-alena-who's 6 was a hoot. who knew a 6 year old could be so polite yet sometimes sassy and so so smart. charlie and leslie have raised her and mason (alena's brother who's 8 i believe) so well. they already know so much. one of the first questions alena asked me was "do you believe in Jesus?" and after saying yes she went on to tell me all about him. even sang me a song about him and added some verses in it. it was so sweet. she may not understand all of it now/what He's done for us, but i love that she is getting a glimpse of it at such a young age and feeling so loved. well that sums up the major parts of my break. it's gone by way to fast. and i'm dreading going back to school...
