i'm reading this book right now called the last lecture. its about a guy who has cancer and finds out he only has a few months left to live, and gives a "last lecture" at the college he teaches at. it is one of the coolest books i have ever read. the courage and drive this guy has to live every day in the moment. even with the daunting fears of death soon approaching. the dreams he achieved. its crazy. i love his mentality and the passion he has in life. i want to live like that. he says that hard times (brick walls) are not there to keep us out but to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. as i'm reading this book, im so convicted by how i am living my life. thinking about myself in his shoes, i would probably be sulking around, dreading the months to come and not wanting to move forward. but he is living in the moment. everyday. enjoying his wife, his children, his dreams, his job. i dont have a disease that has put a time limit on my life, yet this man who does and knows he is going to die has more courage to live fully day by day than i do. it makes me notice/enjoy the little things, appreciate the people i have, and celebrate life for what it is now. because our future isnt always guaranteed
